P-39 "Brooklyn Bum-2nd" that belongs to The Fighter Collection

Week 44 2007 I worked as volunteer at The Fighter Collection. One task I did was to remove various cowlings on the fuselage and open all hatches on both sides of the wings to make the aircraft ready for inspection. Now it could be called the naked "bum" instead....  :o)

As the plane has the engine behind the cockpit the prop shaft goes through it. It goes through the control stick and through the instument panels to the gearbox (a quite noisy one in fact). That makes it possible to shot through the center of the propeller with the 37mm canon.
